Not really actually… it’s more like « Buildable on Demand ».
With the new updates of the Rust Core, more features of the game will be customizable by the Map Makers, people like us who customize what you see in the game. And this was on the roadmap for at least 2 years due to the lack of support for customization. So now, there will be less « random stuff driven by plugins », and more « specific elements customizable on demand », like letting Bradley roam on the roads of your map.
You can see that with the new Fishing Village that provides you with everything to go Sea Diving that were found in roadside loots before. You can still have them in loots, but as the game is also a cosplay system, we need more contextual elements that people can handle on their personnal servers.
As for the Bus Stop, we had a « frustration/rant » by PrinceVidz in one of his october video. He is right, this remarquable monument was buildable in the past. This was a glitch in the Procedural engine leaving the Bus Stop outside of its predestined location. That made the Bus Stop to be the only buildable monument of the entire game. But is it?
Now we have the « Placing too close to Road » alert because lately Rust had a change in the scheme that Roads were made for Cars and not for Building.
But hey, the Bus Stop is a monument. We can move it wherever we want, isn’t it? Yes. Like all the elements in Rust. But one detail that need to be managed by the Map Makers… If we want monuments to be buildables, we need to drop their Topology and their Blocks. Because yes, with a lot of twists, we can make the Dome or the Airfield to be buildables… but why would we ?!
There is already a bunch of Monuments Designers that provide us with their own vision of a buildable building… it’s a good thing to make these things more popular.
And it’s a great thing to advertise the work of us, Map Makers… because you will see more and more Custom Maps that have great potential to make the game evolve.
